Tuesday

I am looking at my calendar and Nathan would have just been brought home today, if everything had gone as planned! Instead he will be 1 month old on Tuesday! Wow, I am so grateful for the extra time I have been able to have with all of my boys! This time sure does fly by. My little fighter made it all worth it!

Indy Visitor

It was so good to see Meaghan on Tuesday! She left Reece in Indy and drove up to spend the whole day with us. We don't get to see each other as often as we would like, but when we are together it is like we are living together in Lafayette again!

Baby Logan?

Logan is beginning to come around when it comes to Nathan. He is finally talking to him and about him, but now he wants to be like him! He hasn't tried to get a bottle or pacifier, but he is intrigued by Nathan's "chair" as he calls it. I guess it doesn't help that I am sitting there laughing as he says "weeee" while rocking himself.

Star

Logan has become increasingly fond of our fish tank. He will look in there for 20-30 minutes at a time. Most of the time I will here him talking to the star (our chocolate chip starfish) and the fish. He will say hi nemo, hi star and keep gazing in the tank. It is so cute to watch! I guess like father like son...

The Cranes

Troy, Melinda, Brayden, and Tyler came to visit us this past weekend. They saw Nathan at the hospital, but they were unable to hold him. Brayden and Logan had a blast playing on the new playset!

Announcements

I attempted to get a picture close to what we did with Logan for Nathan's birth announcement. I got Nathan all situated (once Logan was sleeping) and starting snapping away. Here are some of the pics I had to choose from.

Update

Things have gotten relatively better today. Cindy is stable. They determined that her cancer is not spreading and has made no change (Praise God). The hard part is, is that the steroids she has been on to control the cancer are having some adverse effects, leaving her in the hospital. Pray that the doctors can figure out what they need to, Pray that Keith will have some peace, and that the kids will feel secure with everything that is going on.....

Regrets....

Do you ever have one of those days that you wish you could change what you have done. I saw Cindy yesterday, and new she didn't look real well. When I left, I didn't hug her or say I love you, which in the 20 some odd years of knowing her, we always do. Also, being the crazy picture nut I am, somehow I have no picture of her and Nathan......hopefully I will still be able to get one.....

Last night she started having seizures again, and is currently in the Northwestern ICU. I am not going into detail, because little eyes may be reading this. Things are not looking great right now. If you want more details, you can e-mail me, but please pray.....

Picture Debut

Nathan Bradley, almost 3 weeks old

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Great Day!

Yesterday we had Nathan's checkup at the doctor. I was so nervous because if he wasn't gaining weight, it could mean going back to the hospital......

No worries here, he is up to 6 lbs. 9 oz! He was only 5 lbs. 13 oz. when we left the hospital! This was a huge relief. He can go off the preemie formula the end of next week and I don't have to keep waking him up to make sure he is eating every 3 hours. We are so excited this hurdle is out of the way!

Big Brother Love...Finally

Logan has not been completely thrilled with Nathan being at our house permanently. Over the past week he has slowly begin to come around. At first he wouldn't come by me if I was holding Nathan, and now he is starting to sit and talk to his little brother, and will tell me if Nathan is crying.

Visitors

Nathan's great grandpa and grandma came to visit us on Friday evening. This was their first time getting to see our newest addition.

New Playset

Thank you to everyone who helped put up Logan's new playset! He is beyond thrilled, and it definitely makes my days easier! He is my little monkey out there! The same day that Nathan came home, Dad, Tim, Matt, and Deric put the whole thing up. Thanks again everyone!

Logan was pooped out after the long day!

Finally Home!

After we got home people came over to see Nathan and help put up part of Logan's new toy!
Nathan looks so squished in his car seat!

Logan is trying to warm up to Nathan. He will come unning if Nathan is crying, but otherwise he keeps his distance. He's not quite sure what to think.

First Full Day

So today was the first full day that I had Logan and Nathan all to myself. Can I tell you, I loved every minute of it. I'm sure the newness will eventually wear off and having a toddler and a baby will become draining, but I think after the week we had last week I just feel blessed to be at home with two of my three boys.

I have a bunch of pictures from picking Nathan up from the hospital, Logan's first time seeing Nathan (which was yesterday), and family and friends with him on his first day at home. I will post these tomorrow.

One cute thing....Logan is now calling Nathan, "My Baby"

Pray

Please pray that Nathan does not lose any weight tonight. They had to put him on formula because he was not getting enough calories. Because he had lost weight two nights in a row we can not bring him home today. If he gains a little bit, hopefully tomorrow.............

Good Evening

We went to spend the afternoon with Nathan, hopefully this is the last day we have to do this! He was wide awake the entire time during both feedings! He is doing excellent and should be coming home tomorrow!!

Papa Umlauf was the first person other than Mommy and Daddy to hold Nathan!

Quick Update

Nathan is doing wonderful!!! He is completely off of any help in the NICU. He was also able to have the jaundice lights turned off and is in a normal crib!!! We are so excited. The doctor said he will be able to come home tomorrow. If I wasn't still sore from my c-section, I would be jumping for joy!!

Here he is !

Okay, I'm back. I will attempt to make a long story short. He was born on July 5th, 6 lbs. 4oz, and 19 inches long at 9:09 p.m.. He started off doing very well, but ended up having some lung problems because of being early. He has been in the NICU since late Saturday night. We had a few rough days, but he seems to be doing very well now. Fortunately, this is nothing permanent, just something that can happen when you are only 36 1/2 weeks along. I came home yesterday (Wednesday) night, and my mom is driving me to feed him everyday. Hopefully, the doctor thinks he is doing well enough to come home late on Saturday.

Right after birth, a perfect little boy!
